An Army sergeant major living in Enterprise, Alabama, has been sentenced to more than four years in prison after admitting to secretly recording female family members and houseguests inside his home.

Sgt. Maj. Joshua Prescott, 42, received a four-and-a-half-year prison sentence from a Fort Rucker military judge. He was also reduced in rank to E-1, the lowest enlisted grade, according to military officials.

The case began in July 2024 when the Enterprise Police Department received credible information that Prescott had recorded a nude underage female during a visit to his residence. A joint investigation with the Department of the Army Criminal Investigation Division later uncovered a hidden camera placed inside the guest bathroom.

Authorities said the camera captured videos of women in various stages of undress, including completely nude while using the bathroom. Investigators also discovered Prescott used his cellphone to secretly record a female guest showering while he was stationed in Colorado.

In total, officials say Prescott amassed hundreds of illegal recordings over a 14-year period. Due to statute of limitations restrictions, prosecutors were limited in the charges they could pursue.

Prescott originally faced multiple serious charges, including production of child pornography and indecent recording. He ultimately pleaded guilty to two counts of indecent recordings, while other charges were dismissed under a plea agreement.

“It was an egregious violation of trust and privacy,” said Maj. Morghan Beaudoin, an Army prosecutor, noting that one victim was an underage female.

Prescott will serve his sentence at the U.S. Disciplinary Barracks in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. After release, he must register as a sex offender under both federal and state law.
