Alabama A&M basketball is turning heads nationally as both the men’s and women’s programs earn recognition in the latest College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.
For the first time this season, the Bulldogs’ women’s team received votes, earning 13 in the most recent poll release. Alabama A&M stands as the only Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) women’s program currently receiving votes — a milestone that underscores the team’s growing momentum.
The recognition follows a dominant stretch for the Lady Bulldogs, who are riding a 10-game winning streak. Alabama A&M sits at 14-9 overall with an impressive 10-1 mark in conference play. With a victory Thursday against Arkansas-Pine Bluff, the team would match the longest winning streak in program history. The Bulldogs will also look to avenge their only league loss when they host Mississippi Valley State on Saturday.
Thursday’s game tips off at 6 p.m. at the AAMU Event Center during the Play 4 Kay Breast Cancer Awareness game and will stream on SWAC TV.
The national spotlight extends to the men’s program as well. For the second consecutive week, the Bulldogs received votes in the College Insider poll, earning six. Alabama A&M joins Bethune-Cookman as one of only two SWAC men’s teams recognized.
The men enter the weekend at 13-11 overall and 6-5 in conference play, fresh off a 66-58 road win over Grambling State.
With both programs gaining national attention, Alabama A&M basketball is proving it can compete — and win — on a larger stage.
