Bulldogs Eye SEC Test After Electric Fall Scrimmage

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Alabama A&M fans got a taste of what’s to come this fall, and the Bulldogs didn’t disappoint. The team capped off camp with an energetic scrimmage that delivered big plays, crisp execution, and a sense of confidence as they prepare for their season-opening showdown with Arkansas.

Head Coach Sam Shade left the field encouraged.

“This was our second scrimmage, and we saw definite improvement from the first,” Shade said in a HBCU Sports interview. “Some guys really stepped up. The offense, in particular, made progress — especially running the ball.”

The crowd-pleasing highlights? A 90-yard burst to the end zone by Isaiah Nwokenkwo and a 53-yard strike from quarterback JD Davis II to wideout Jaden Gresham that drew cheers from the sidelines.

The flashes of explosiveness are exactly what A&M will need as they pivot into game-week prep for an SEC opponent. Shade said Monday marks the official start of full Arkansas installation on both sides of the ball.

“From here on out, our attention will be fully on Arkansas,” he said.

The Bulldogs will travel to Fayetteville on August 30 to face the Razorbacks, a stage that offers both a challenge and a chance to showcase how far the program has come.

For now, Alabama A&M carries into SEC territory the momentum of a scrimmage that felt more like a statement: the Bulldogs are ready to run, throw, and fight their way onto the national radar.
