Hundreds of local families and youth programs are now left in limbo
SPEAKIN’ OUT NEWS

MADISON, Ala. – One of North Alabama’s most popular family entertainment centers, the Insanity Complex, has suddenly shut its doors after a decade of serving the community—leaving stunned parents, staff, and event organizers scrambling for answers.
The announcement came quietly on May 22 via a short message posted to the Insanity Complex website and social media pages:
“After 10 incredible years, Insanity Complex will be closing its operations effective immediately. This difficult decision was made with great care, and we are deeply grateful to our customers, employees, and partners for your support.”
The unexpected closure has blindsided many in Madison and surrounding areas who relied on the sprawling facility for everything from birthday parties and school events to roller skating, arcade fun, laser tag, and even competitive sports like speed skating.
“I had kids ready to compete at nationals,” said Jerrod Bouchard, a longtime coach who trained speed skaters at the complex. “Now we have no place to train. They didn’t give us a heads up—nothing.”
Families with pre-paid events and party bookings are now in financial limbo, unsure if they’ll be refunded. Local attorney Eric Artrip urged anyone affected to request refunds in writing and keep documentation.
“If no resolution is offered, small claims court may be an option,” Artrip told WAFF 48 News, which first broke the story.
The reason for the sudden shutdown remains unclear. Neither ownership nor management has responded to follow-up inquiries.
Located on Skate Park Drive, the Insanity Complex was once seen as a symbol of Madison’s growth—offering skating, rock climbing, batting cages, mini-golf, and even a popular food court.
Now, what once brought excitement and connection to Madison youth sits empty.
