On Sunday, August 28, 2022, Hopewell M.B. Church celebrated its 2022 Deacon and Deaconess Recognition, Family and Friend Day. This year’s event was based upon the scripture Isaiah 43:2, which reads, “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.”
Call to Worship was presented by Rev. Cornelius Adams, and Deacon W.D. Strong gave Devotion, Sr. Welcome, and Recognition of visitors by Deacon Freddie Surles. Afterward, Mother Ruby Ford gave a mighty Occasion, and Hopewell Male Chorus rendered Music. Deaconess Jimmie Strong introduced all of the Deacons and their wives.
Guest minister, Reverend Samuel Wilson, Senior Pastor of New Market United Methodist Church, gave a powerful, Holy Ghost-filled Word to the congregation. The people of God received the preached Word and were blessed.
Pastor Wilson’s sermon was entitled, “Waiting To Exhale,” based upon the scripture, Isaiah 40:25-31. He encouraged Hopewell to continue having hope because God is great and good! “He will renew our strength! Hold onto your anchor when the storms of life are raging. Hold onto your anchor, which is that solid rock, Jesus”, preached Pastor Wilson.
Hopewell M.B. Church is located at 292 Cemetery Road, New Market Al 35761, where the Pastor is Rev. Dr. Larry Davidson Jr.
