The history Of Taylor’s Chapel Primitive Baptist Church goes back to the ending of the late nineteenth century and the beginning of the early twentieth century. It is a history that affirms the dreams of the late reverend William “Will” Taylor. Elder Taylor founded the church in February 1904 and it is forever etched in the corner stone now mounted at the present Taylor’s chapel church structure at 3100 Stringfield road, northwest, Huntsville, Alabama. This site is the original founding site; the church family welcomes this notable fact of the church history.
Deacons serving during the early hears upon establishment of the church were Jim wall, George Jordan, Robert Aldridge, Bill martin, Walter Robinson, tom Morton, Jim smith, and freeman Stoddard. Mothers serving were Mattie Jordan, Mandy Smith Martha hamlet and viola Douglas.

Plans were finalized in February, 1982 for the building of a new church sanctuary with a fellowship hall and classrooms. Groundbreaking services for the present structure were held on Sunday, March 21, 1982. On October 30, 1983, a church dedication service was held for the present building, a cornerstone laying service was held on March 11, 1984. On February 15, 2011, the original bell was remounted for the 100th church anniversary celebration.
In January 2010, plans were finalized for renovating the fellowship hall, kitchen, and rest rooms. These plans also included the construction of a new addition with three classrooms, choir room, pastor ’s study , church office, restrooms, storage room and a multipurpose room. The renovation and new addition were completed on December 28, 2010.
Reverend Taylor served as pastor for 54 years (1904-1958). Other pastors in the order of their service were elder Arthur Tibbs ((1958-1961), elder Oscar hamlet (1961-1966) and elder James lane, sr., (July 2, 1985-present).
Taylor’s chapel is affiliated with the Mallard Creek Primitive Baptist Association, Huntsville, Alabama, where moderator elder Benjamin Burt is the current moderator.
