Thanks, Speakin Out News and our many dedicated readers. I am still recovering from breaking my shoulder several weeks ago. Having to do everything with my other arm is challenging. I want to thank my son for helping me get my “One Woman’s Opinion” articles out these last few weeks and for my daughter getting me to my physical therapy each week. My recovery is going well and I should be good in a few more weeks.
I hope everyone is well and ready for Christmas. Christmas has snuck up on me this year as it probably has for a lot of people. It is going to be a bit different this year with smaller groups getting together and some families not getting together at all. Our family has so much to be thankful for and we have Christmas every day of the year. I think more about the children everywhere at Christmas and hope they have an exciting Christmas to remember.
VIRUS
Please pray every day over this virus. So many are sick and dying from it. I believe it is more serious than people are taking it. Hospitals have their back against the wall as they are stressed out from the number of daily cases and the lack of beds for patients. Ambulances are being told there are no rooms for additional patients at some hospitals. The Department of Public Health is reporting as many as 3000 patients in a single day. There was a record 2,424 virus patients at 104 hospitals last Thursday. Our hospitals are 50% above capacity from earlier this year.
It has also been such a tough year on our schools and students. Schools have closed and tried to re-open several times. School sports and events have been seriously impacted and even cancelled. Many businesses have been forced to shut down permanently. So many people are without jobs due to the impact the virus has had on certain businesses.
Though the number of virus cases is not yet showing signs of going down, last week COVID vaccines began being shipped and administered. Hopefully by Spring we will see this terrible epidemic start getting under control. Stay safe and protect yourselves until then. I pray in 2021 we will have things back to normal.
EMPTY SEAT AT LAST CITY COUNCIL?
Huntsville Leaders, did you see a vacant seat at City Council last week? Thank you, Councilman Kling, for asking about me. I was not able to be there as I had a doctor appointment that ran over. It broke my heart not to be there at the last meeting of the year. I am not going away and will see you all starting in 2021.
Love you all and have a Merry Christmas and a blessed week.
