A special Committee composed of Montgomery County residents of the Alabama Democratic Conference (ADC) unanimously endorsed Representative Kirk Hatcher for the Alabama Senate District 26 Special Election for the Alabama Legislature scheduled for December 15. Representative Hatcher lead five candidates in the Democratic Primary by receiving 48% of the votes. He fell short by two points from defeating all of his opponents without a runoff. Former Representative John Knight garnered second place with 21% of the votes. Joe Reed, Chair of the ADC, said the group thought that Kirk Hatcher would make a good Senator and that he would unify the Democrats in Montgomery in District 26 and will make all of us proud.
Reed calls on everyone to unite behind Hatcher because “a house divided cannot stand and a Party divided cannot win.” Following the runoff, the winning Democrat will face William Green the Republican nominee in the March 2 General Election.
