One Woman’s Opinion

Columnist, Jackie Reed

Thanks, Speakin Out News and to our many dedicated readers. Time is swiftly passing by and I need to get my house in order.  I have cemetery lots in Sparta, Tennessee where I am from, where my husband, Ray B. Reed was buried. His mother said I would be buried there too if I did not have him moved. Six years ago, he was moved to Maple Hill Cemetery where we also have family lots.  He was one of the 4 NASA employees killed in 1966 in a private plane crash, at the age of 33.  Please do not wait to get things in order.

God helped me to raise my children and has been good to all of us.  It was not an easy life but I have enjoyed every minute. So many people want me to write a book of my life.  How many people do you know that have ran for political office 17 times in their lifetime?  I did not plan my life this way but years ago city government refused to change an ordinance on properties I owned from residential to commercial because I-565 was coming. I told them then I would watch over their dealings for the rest of my life.

ELECTIONS SOON

Start thinking about who to vote for since there is so much going on. Look for candidates that talk about doing good for ALL the people and that you feel you can trust will do what they say.  There is too much talk between opponents attacking each other.  I read in the Times that DeKalb County is Tuberville Country.  The Chair of the Republican Party says that DeKalb County is a very Rural conservative county and has been Republican’s biggest supporters from the start.  There are Doug Jones signs all over Huntsville as he does lots of advertisement. Keep a close look at the President Election which is less than 20 days away.   A very important election in my opinion.

HUNTSVILLE BIG CITY

Our Leaders want Huntsville to be a big city. I wish they would go on and move to a big city if they like them so much. They are building too fast and are not using common sense in their decision making.  In my opinion they are giving our City Property to their friends for 50-year leases for very little rent.  Did you ever wonder why the Heart of Huntsville sat vacant for 8 to 9 years?  The city owns a lot of City Center and Mid City properties and a lot out in Limestone County.  There are many areas of this city that have been lacking and neglected for a long time.  The people must love this government or must not be aware of what these city leaders are doing because they keep putting them back in office.   Trader Joes will be coming to MID CITY in 2021.

Keep praying for those with the Virus. I am so thankful Coach Saban has now tested negative for the virus and recovered so quickly.

Love you all and have a blessed week.
