
A man set to go to trial Monday on a charge of child sex abuse was re-arrested the same day for trying to lure a teenager.
J.L. McCrary Jr., 62, of Cullman, was booked into the Morgan County Jail at 11 a.m. Monday.
Records state McCrary attempted to lure a girl under the age of 16 into a vehicle, room, house, office or other place for immoral purposes.
WAFF reported that McCrary was set to go to trial on a 2021 charge after being accused of subjecting a 12-year-old to sexual contact. He has pleaded not guilty.
McCrary pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual abuse charges in 2002 and 2004. In the 2002 case, he served a year in jail. In the 2004 case, he received a five-year split sentence.
